NAW’s President and CEO Eric Hoplin issued the following statement regarding the final U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) climate disclosure rule.

“Over the last two years, NAW has consistently voiced substantial concerns regarding the scope, breadth, and legal implications of the SEC’s climate disclosure rule. While we acknowledge the SEC’s responsiveness and necessary revisions made, notably in alleviating the burdensome Scope 3 provisions, it’s evident that hurdles persist. The final rule continues to present potential adverse effects on small and family-owned businesses. Additionally, the compliance burden on publicly traded companies further compounds complexities for wholesaler-distributors, who serve as the cornerstone of our nation’s supply chain.”

The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) is one of America’s leading trade associations, representing the $8.2 trillion wholesale distribution industry. Our industry employs more than 6 million workers throughout the United States, accounting for 1/3 of the U.S. GDP. 35,000 wholesale distribution companies operate nearly 150,000 places of business across North America, including all 50 states.
