Modern Distribution Management provides in-depth guidance, trend analysis and market intelligence to executives in the wholesale distribution industry. We seek an Associate Editor to become part of an award-winning editorial team who will contribute to the execution of a range of editorial content and projects.

Job Summary

The Associate Editor will work closely with the Executive Editor and Senior Editor to plan and execute editorial projects across all of MDM’s platforms – MDM Premium, MDM Update, MDM.com news alerts, webcasts, podcasts, monthly and quarterly reports and a variety of media projects. You will be responsible for creating, curating and disseminating SEO-driven content.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Daily management of MDM’s digital assets, including website and social media operations:
    • Manage social media content, including Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, while exploring further social media avenues yet untapped 
    • Work with editorial leadership to develop and implement a goal-oriented social media strategy
    • Assist with online and print production, webcast, podcast, whitepaper, etc.
    • Post all content to MDM.com, ensuring proper SEO, tagging and keyword best practices and appropriate associated images
    • Manage daily MDM Update newsletter, including coordination with marketing department on ad and sponsor content in addition to editorial content placement 
  • Write daily news briefs
  • Consistently meet internal team and customer needs, expectations, and deadlines
  • Coordinate and work closely with project managers to ensure best practices are implemented and production protocols are followed company-wide  
  • Serve as sales and editorial liaison by coordinating contact with webcast, Update newsletter and whitepaper sponsors
  • Spearhead the compilation, design and deployment of the Premium reports

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage social media with an eye for social-friendly headlines/headdecks/imagery that will boost online engagement

This sales position will help drive NAW’s long term membership growth strategy, specifically targeting and recruiting CEO-level executives for new membership sales. 

Job Summary

The Director of Membership Sales for NAW will be responsible for helping to grow the membership of NAW by developing a list of prospective members and then planning and executing a direct engagement strategy to bring new companies into the membership. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Prospecting: Manage and grow a list of prospective members in an assigned membership segment, research the companies, find points of contact if needed, and develop a strategy for successfully bringing the company into the membership through direct engagement. 
  • Sales Meetings: Set, attend, and lead meetings with CEOs and C-Suite distribution executives, handling the preparation and approach for each meeting. In person and virtual meetings will be a core part of the job. Expect regular travel (U.S. only – no international travel). 
  • Closing the Sale: Manage the follow up to each sales meeting, helping to integrate prospects into NAW programing, answering final questions, introducing them to members, and other activities designed to close the sale. 
  • Building Business Intelligence: Operate in a mode of constant, iterative improvement. Develop strategies and processes for the NAW enterprise to capture business intelligence, analyze that information, and put it to use to regularly enhance membership growth strategy and tactics. 
  • Engaging Members: Promote a member-focused culture and support the member engagement team by leveraging relationships developed during the sale process to enhance member value.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize assigned activities for in-person events to include Board, Conferences, Summits, Roundtables, Salon Dinners, and other one-off events throughout the calendar year
  • Manage and provide direction to event vendors within budget targets (i.e. food & beverage, venue, printed materials, attendees, photographer, etc.)
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the NAW Corporate Relations team to ensure attendee experience is unique, sponsors are receiving all contracted obligations at each event, and registration numbers continue to increase
  • Aid in the management of event registration and event campaigns in Salesforce, NAW’s CRM platform
  • Assist Senior Director of Meetings and Events with additional event preparation work
  • Support Senior Director of Events running in-person events in cities across the United States

  • Advocacy/Lobbying:
    • Help represent NAW and the wholesale distribution industry on Capitol Hill, before Federal Agencies and with key stakeholders on the issues impacting NAW members.
    • Manage legislative and regulatory initiatives relative to: Technology, Ai and automation as it relates to the supply chain; environment and energy related issues; small business and other relevant issues assigned to the position.
    • Write briefing papers, talking points and content for GR related newsletters.
    • Participate in issue-area advocacy coalitions with other trade association partners, think tanks, and member companies.
    • Attend Hill hearings, briefings, and off-campus events on NAW’s behalf.
    • Assist with PAC fundraising including events on and off-site.
  • Communications management:
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure interoffice communications run smoothly.
    • Assist with the Communication and Marketing Department to support public affairs and grassroots campaigns.
    • Assist with state relations communications to membership.
  • Department information management:
    • Maintain and update Congressional contacts for key Hill offices and committees.
    • Manage various Government Relations related distribution lists, for communications to Congress, external stakeholders and coalition partners, and our internal membership.
    • Some administrative duties including database entries, and list management for GR engagement.
  • Assist with other projects assigned.
