Even though the media attention this election cycle went to the presidential and congressional races there were still significant races and ballot initiatives at the state level. Out of the 11 gubernatorial races this cycle, eight went Republican while three went Democratic. The only competitive Governor race this cycle was in New Hampshire, a race to succeed Gov. Chris Sununu (R). Former Senator Kelly Ayotte (R) defeated former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig (D) by nearly nine points in New Hampshire to win the race.
