October 6, 2025 – The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) urges the Senate to quickly pass a clean short-term funding bill and reopen the government. Statement from Eric Hoplin, President & CEO of NAW:

“In recent years, Congress has routinely missed funding deadlines and necessarily agreed to pass short-term funding bills to keep the government operating.  Business owners, workers, and their families rely on the certainty of government operations, and shutdowns like the current one only harm the economy. The US House has already passed a clean short-term funding bill that allow members from both parties and chambers to continue to negotiate full-year funding measures as well as a series of expiring provisions.   We urge the US Senate to follow the lead of the House and adopt and send to the President’s desk a clean CR.

Failing to act will result in an extended government shutdown leading to economic uncertainty, critical supply chains disruptions, and unnecessary challenges for businesses, workers, and consumers. Stability in government operations is essential for keeping supply chains strong and avoiding unnecessary disruptions.”

The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) is one of America’s leading trade associations, representing the $8.2 trillion wholesale distribution industry.
