April 3, 2025 – President Trump has a long record as a pro-business, pro-growth leader and a strong negotiator. As an industry, wholesaler-distributors are strong defenders of free enterprise. We understand and support the President’s goals to repatriate America’s manufacturing base and promote fair trade. As the President acknowledged, short-term disruption is likely, but if the strategy succeeds, it could lay the foundation for a more resilient and dynamic U.S. economy.

The distribution industry, the backbone of the supply chain, functions best with the ability to plan ahead and operate with a degree of certainty. The framework outlined by President Trump presents an opportunity for supply chains to align with policy.

We urge the Administration to seize this moment to finalize trade negotiations quickly and in good faith. The goal must be fair, lasting agreements that strengthens and expands the U.S. economy.

Distributors are built for change, and we are ready to meet this moment. While tariffs and the uncertainty ahead present challenges, our industry has a long history of adapting and leading through disruption.

The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) is one of America’s leading trade associations, representing the $8.2 trillion wholesale distribution industry. Founded in 1946, NAW comprises national, regional, and state employers of all sizes, industry trade associations, partners, and stakeholders spanning all distribution sectors. Our industry employs more than 6 million workers throughout the United States, accounting for 1/3 of the U.S. GDP.
