Washington, DC – The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) today delivered a letter to President Biden outlining the wholesale distribution industry’s capabilities and its commitment to work with the Biden administration to help distribute vaccines, lifesaving treatments, personal protective equipment, and materials, goods, and services that are needed to combat COVID-19 and keep Americans safe.
“On behalf of the 30,000 companies across the country that keep America’s supply chain moving, we stand ready to contribute to President Biden’s efforts as he works to combat COVID-19 and implement plans to distribute lifesaving vaccines, treatments, and equipment,” NAW President and CEO Eric Hoplin said. “When the pandemic hit, the wholesale distribution industry immediately mobilized to move the materials, goods, and services that medical facilities, pharmacies, schools, and businesses across the country needed to combat COVID-19. Our industry remains equipped to use its existing network and knowledge to help keep Americans safe and the country’s economy moving.”

Background
When the pandemic hit in early 2020, the wholesale distribution industry stepped in the breach and helped keep the supply chain moving by delivering the materials, goods, and services that Americans need. Wholesaler-distributors repurposed and reorganized to develop 24-hour emergency delivery systems and provided all available resources to medical facilities, temporary hospitals, schools, and businesses across the country. The industry worked to re-stock shelves in pharmacies and stores across the country and secured and distributed PPE to help save lives, jobs, and keep the economy going.
