June 18, 2025 – The One Big Beautiful Bill Act will ensure businesses and workers do not see the largest tax hike in American history. As the Senate continues its work on the One Big Beautiful Bill legislation, NAW strongly supports efforts to extend and build on the 2017 tax reforms—pro-growth policies that delivered broad-based relief to American families and businesses. Failing to act will saddle families and small businesses with a more-than $2.6 trillion tax hike including a $1,700 tax increase for the average family of four.
S-corporations and other passthrough businesses make up 95% of all businesses including the majority of wholesale-distribution companies, forming the backbone of the US economy and employing the majority of all private sector workers.
We commend Senator Crapo’s legislative language that protects millions of small and family-owned businesses, raises the estate tax exemption to preserve generational enterprises, and restores key incentives that drive long-term economic growth. We encourage the Senate to go further to include provisions that will strengthen Main Street— such as raising the 199A deduction back to 23% and ensuring SALT parity for passthrough businesses to maintain parity between S-corporations and their corporate competitors.
Permanently extending and enhancing these policies is the clearest path to restoring economic opportunity, protecting working families, and helping America’s small businesses continue to serve as the engine of our economy. We look forward to continue working with lawmakers and the administration to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill Act into law.
The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) is one of America’s leading trade associations, representing the $8.2 trillion wholesale distribution industry. Our industry employs more than 6 million workers throughout the United States, accounting for 1/3 of the U.S. GDP. 35,000 wholesale distribution companies operate in 150,000 places of business across North America, including all 50 states.
