May 12, 2025 – Today, the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) issued the following statement in support of the House Ways and Means Committee’s newly introduced tax legislation:

The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) applauds the House Ways and Means Committee’s pro-small business, pro-worker tax legislation that provides much-needed certainty for wholesaler-distributors and the economy. The legislation makes key tax cuts enacted in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent and provides additional tax relief that will help small businesses, workers, and families.

By making the 199A deduction permanent and increasing it to 23%, this legislation ensures that S-corporations and other pass-through entities, many of them family-owned distribution firms, can reinvest in their people, operations, and communities.

We are particularly encouraged that the legislation increases and makes the death tax exemption permanent, recognizing the unique challenges family-owned businesses face in planning for generational continuity. Additionally, the legislation ensures strong tax relief for working families by making individual tax cuts permanent and expanding both the standard deduction and child tax credit.

The legislation also contains policies that will help the economy grow such as the restoration of 100% bonus depreciation and restoration of the ability of businesses to immediately deduct research & development expenditures.

This proposal is a strong first step in providing tax relief for small businesses and workers and we look forward to working with lawmakers as the process continues. We urge Congress to act swiftly and deliver on this important legislation to provide economic certainty and prevent the expiration of the 2017 tax cuts.
