As state legislatures conclude their 2026 sessions, except for a handful of year-round legislatures, our government affairs team has tracked an unprecedented level of legislative activity. Throughout the year, we monitored more than 1,081 bills across key policy areas, surpassing the 1,072 bills tracked in 2025. To date, nearly 70 of those bills have been enacted, and seven have been vetoed, underscoring the ongoing pace of state-level policymaking that affects employers, taxpayers and supply chain operations.
Given the slowdown in activity at the state level, we will pause our state GR newsletter for the remainder of August and resume after Labor Day. We will continue to report on legislation and regulatory changes across the country that impacts our industry. For more information on the bills listed in this update, please visit NAW’s state legislative tracker. If you have any questions or suggestions on NAW’s State Policy Update, please email [email protected].
