Building materials distributor Builders FirstSource announced Nov. 2 that it has acquired L&P Building Supply — a Las Cruces, NM-based supplier serving customers in southern New Mexico and El Paso, TX.

L&P supplies lumber, building materials and manufactured components, including trusses and wall panels.

L&P’s broader product portfolio includes engineered wood, roofing, stucco, steel framing, drywall, windows, doors and insulation. The addition extends BFS’ network in New Mexico, where it already operates lumberyards in Albuquerque, Farmington, Santa Fe, Angel Fire and Raton, along with component manufacturing operations in Albuquerque.

The deal follows four acquisitions BFS completed during the first nine months of 2026 for approximately $129.3 million in combined purchase consideration, according to its latest quarterly filing. Those previously announced 2026 additions include:

  • Premium Building Components — January: A New York-based supplier of trusses and wall panels serving customers from western New York to Maine and Delaware.
  • Precision Design and Trim — June: An installation business providing finish work for residential construction in the Boise, ID area.
  • Innovative Construction Group — August: Acquired from PulteGroup, the off-site construction provider serves customers in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Its capabilities include structural design, manufactured components and turnkey framing.
  • Gleckler and Sons — September: A supplier serving homebuilders across central, northeast and western Florida with lumber, building materials, prefabricated trusses, millwork and installation services.

The latest acquisition comes shortly after BFS reported its third-quarter results Oct. 29. Net sales fell 2.2% year-over-year to $3.85 billion, moderating from an 8.8% decline in the second quarter. Core organic sales decreased 3.9%, while acquisitions contributed 1.8 percentage points to sales growth.

Profitability remained under pressure. Gross margin contracted 260 basis points to 27.8%, adjusted EBITDA declined 28.3% to $311 million and net income fell to $60.4 million from $122.4 million a year earlier.

BFS narrowed its full-year sales outlook to $14.2 billion-$14.6 billion and adjusted EBITDA guidance to $1.075 billion-$1.125 billion, maintaining the midpoints of both ranges.
