Since the start of 2022, hiring and staffing issues have frustrated industrial distributors, even as the overall U.S. labor market has seen incremental improvements. One question posed in the 2023 1Q Baird-MDM Industrial Distribution Survey asked,

“How would you rate your current staffing situation compared to a year ago?”

Of those who responded, 73% said their situation was either "slightly better" or "about the same." Another rotating question in the latest Baird-MDM Industrial Distribution Survey asked distributors,

“What is your company's biggest barrier to leveraging technology better?”
