In the quarterly 1Q Baird Industrial Distribution Survey, produced in partnership with MDM, wholesale distributor executives across industrial, commercial and building material verticals indicated demand in the first quarter of 2023 was fairly choppy, with some end markets recording continued robust demand and others seeing demand dry up. Survey respondents serving the industrial supplies market, for example, voiced spotty demand and uncertainty into the year, while respondents serving the gases and welding markets recorded steady growth with no pushback on pricing.
