GME Supply Acquires Iowa Construction Supplies Distributor
The addition of Commercial Supply Co. expands GME’s Midwest reach and capabilities serving construction and renewable energy contractors.
Columbia, MO-based safety equipment, tools and customized workwear distributor GME Supply announced Nov. 3 that it acquired Commercial Supply Co., a Des Moines, IA-based distributor serving construction, renewable energy and industrial contractors.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1948, Commercial Supply serves customers nationwide, including concrete, asphalt, excavating and HVAC contractors. Its textile business produces custom burlap, canvas and cotton bags, along with burlap paving covers used for concrete curing.

The company also supplies utility-scale solar and wind contractors, civil construction firms and municipalities. Its offerings include power tools, personal protective equipment, fall protection, testing equipment and jobsite consumables, supported by specialized sourcing, kitting and delivery services. Commercial Supply also sells and rents VelociWrapper cable-wrapping equipment.
GME said the acquisition expands its Midwest distribution capabilities and strengthens its presence in infrastructure markets. Commercial Supply customers will gain access to GME’s broader product assortment, technical expertise and distribution network across the U.S. and Canada.
Commercial Supply will continue operating from its Des Moines location with its existing team. Co-owners Brad Lilienthal and Jason Curry, who purchased the business in 2021, will join GME.
The deal follows GME’s May 5 announcement of two other acquisitions:
- ASK Tower Supply: Based in Albuquerque, NM, the distributor supplies telecommunications tower construction and maintenance products, site hardware and safety and rescue equipment. Founded in 1999 as ASK Motorsports & Equipment, it adopted the ASK Tower Supply name in 2014.
- Peak Trading: Based in Saugerties, NY, the distributor provides rope, rigging, lifting equipment, fall protection and related hardware. Founded in 1997, it serves construction, industrial rigging, rope and rescue, arborist, theatrical rigging and adventure park markets.
