Huntersville, NC-based American Tire Distributors announced Oct. 20 that Michael Broderick was appointed Interim President, effective immediately, as former ATD President and CEO “have parted ways,” per the company.

Broderick, an ATD board member, will oversee the transition while the board searches for a permanent CEO, considering internal and external candidates. He most recently served as President and CEO of Monro and previously held leadership roles at Advance Auto Parts and Canadian Tire.

“ATD has made important progress sharpening our focus on our core tire distribution business, improving operational efficiency and delivering outstanding service and value to our customers and partners,” ATD Chairman Philippe Gilbert said in a news release. “As we look to accelerate these efforts, we determined that now is the right time to initiate a leadership transition.”

ATD said it eliminated more than $170 million in structural costs during 2026 and reinvested a portion of those savings. It plans further investment in its distribution network. The company operates more than 110 distribution centers serving 80,000 customers nationwide, with nearly 3,500 associates.

The leadership change followed two distribution center openings this summer under ATD’s Network 2.0 strategy, which aims to improve product availability, service and operating efficiency.

ATD celebrated the opening of its Wilmington, NC, facility Aug. 1. Designed specifically for tire distribution, the center provides significantly greater SKU capacity than its predecessor, with a layout intended to improve inventory storage, workflow and customer pickup.

The company celebrated its new Albuquerque, NM, distribution center Aug. 12. That facility also expanded inventory capacity compared with its previous location, allowing ATD to stock a broader product assortment for customers throughout New Mexico and the surrounding region. ATD said the expanded footprint and optimized layout support greater productivity and future growth.
