On Oct. 28, Danfoss Climate Solutions announced an expansion of its North American wholesale distribution sales and support team, adding five personnel as part of an effort to strengthen relationships with distributors and contractors.

The manufacturer said the investment is designed to improve communication, increase responsiveness and provide more direct support to its wholesale distribution partners.

The expansion includes four appointments across channel management and regional account support:

  • James Taylor, Channel Development Manager: Will oversee channel business promotions, recruit new distribution partners and facilitate Danfoss’ distribution partner program, including its distributor advisory council. Taylor brings more than 30 years of HVAC/R distribution and aftermarket experience.
  • Jason Sniff, Channel Sales Manager: Will lead distribution account managers in developing territory and account strategies, strengthening existing relationships and recruiting new wholesale partners. He brings more than 25 years of HVAC/R industry and distribution sales experience.
  • Nelson Pinero, Account Manager: Will support wholesale distribution partners in Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and portions of Texas and Missouri. He has more than 35 years of HVAC/R experience across technical, sales and management roles.
  • Robert McConnell, Account Manager: Will oversee distributor and wholesaler relationships in New York and New England. He brings more than 20 years of experience supporting technical product sales through distribution channels.

Danfoss also hired Tony Schluttenhofer as Technical Training Manager. With more than 20 years of experience as an HVAC service technician and trainer, Schluttenhofer will work alongside account managers to conduct product training and informational visits at distributor locations for their contractor customers.

The company said the expanded team will enable more frequent in-person interactions while simplifying communication between its account managers and wholesale partners.

Rick Sporrer, Danfoss Climate Solutions’ Director of Indirect Sales in North America, said the changes aim to provide distributors with a single point of contact and more consistent support: “Building relationships with distributors and contractors is essential to our business. We want to be seen as a consistent partner in the channel and provide distributors and contractors with the knowledge and confidence to promote Danfoss products to their customers.”

Sporrer added that the expansion will continue, with plans to hire two additional account managers in the coming months.

The investment builds on Danfoss’ broader emphasis on its wholesale channel. Sporrer was appointed to lead North American indirect sales in March 2025 following a reorganization intended to strengthen the manufacturer’s aftermarket distribution strategy.

MDM Analysis

For HVAC/R distributors, Danfoss’ expansion signals a greater commitment to wholesale channel growth, with particular emphasis on account accessibility, contractor education and partner recruitment. Existing partners should see opportunities for more direct sales engagement and technical training, while prospective distributors could benefit from the company’s expanded recruitment efforts. The real test will be whether the additional personnel translate into faster issue resolution, stronger product expertise and more effective support for distributors’ contractor customers.
