The Woodlands, TX-based chemicals distributor Shrieve Chemical Company announced Oct. 27 that it acquired Clear Solutions International Ltd. — a UK-based developer and manufacturer of proprietary water-based drilling fluid systems.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal marks Shrieve’s second announced acquisition in six days and fourth of 2026. Shrieve is a portfolio company of private equity firm Gemspring Capital.

Headquartered in Wem, England, Clear Solutions was founded in 2003 and specializes in environmentally compliant drilling fluids marketed under its Pure-Bore brand. Its products serve applications spanning oil and gas, geothermal, tunneling, mining, geotechnical, well abandonment and horizontal directional drilling.

The company serves customers across the UK, Europe and North America.

Shrieve said the acquisition expands its Energy Products and Services portfolio and deepens its presence across energy and infrastructure end markets. The combination also broadens the distributor’s technical capabilities and product offerings across multiple geographies.

“The Pure-Bore technology platform, strong customer relationships, and technical expertise developed by Clear Solutions make this a strong strategic fit,” Shrieve CEO Joey Gullion said in a news release.

Clear Solutions President Glynn Williams said the combination will enable the company to expand the Pure-Bore product family’s reach while maintaining its technical support capabilities.

Recent Acquisition Activity

The transaction follows Shrieve’s Oct. 21 acquisition of Pelham, AL-based Research Solutions Group (RSG) — a distributor, blender and recycler of industrial solvents and specialty chemicals. That deal expanded Shrieve’s southeastern U.S. footprint while adding solvent blending, recycling, waste management and logistics capabilities.

Shrieve’s two other announced 2026 acquisitions came in April:

  • April 21 — FIS Chemicals: Acquired the Aberdeen, Scotland-based formulator, manufacturer and distributor of chemical solutions serving oil and gas, renewables, marine, hospitality and logistics markets.
  • April 23 — Vertec BioSolvents: Acquired the West Chicago, IL-based manufacturer of bio-based solvents and proprietary blends serving agriculture, cleaning, coatings, inks, food and consumer products markets.

Founded in 1978, Shrieve markets nearly 1,500 products across more than 40 countries through four operating segments: Industrial Distribution, Specialty Distribution, Specialty Lubricants and Energy Products and Services.
