Shrieve’s third announced acquisition of 2026 adds Alabama-based Research Solutions Group’s industrial solvents business and blending, recycling and logistics capabilities. The deal follows April acquisitions in Illinois and Scotland.
The Woodlands, TX-based chemicals distributor Shrieve Chemical Company announced Oct. 21 that it acquired Research Solutions Group (RSG) — a Pelham, AL-based distributor, blender and recycler of industrial solvents and specialty chemicals.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Shrieve is a portfolio company of private equity firm Gemspring Capital.
Founded in 1971, RSG serves customers across the southeastern United States with industrial solvents, custom solvent blends and specialty chemicals, alongside solvent recycling and waste management services. The acquisition expands Shrieve’s regional footprint and adds blending, recycling and logistics capabilities.

“RSG has built an impressive business with strong customer relationships, differentiated capabilities, and a reputation for excellence,” Schrieve CEO Joey Gullion said in a news release. “This acquisition expands our geographic reach, strengthens our operational platform, and enhances our ability to deliver value-added solutions to customers.”
RSG CEO Jeff Miller said the combination would pair his company’s capabilities with Shrieve’s scale and resources to broaden its offerings to customers and suppliers.
RSG’s product lineup includes specialty cleaners, degreasers and metalworking lubricants. Its served industries include automotive, original equipment manufacturing, printing, housing, fiberglass, metalworking and marine. The company also provides chemical waste disposal, recycling and consulting services.
The transaction marks Shrieve’s third announced acquisition of 2026, following two April additions in Scotland and Illinois.
On April 21, Shrieve announced its acquisition of Aberdeen, Scotland-based FIS Chemicals, a formulator, manufacturer and distributor of chemical solutions. Founded in 1980, FIS serves markets that include oil and gas, renewables, marine, hospitality and logistics.
Two days later, Shrieve announced its acquisition of West Chicago, IL-based Vertec BioSolvents. Founded in 2001, Vertec manufactures bio-based solvents and develops proprietary and patented blends for markets including agriculture, household and industrial cleaning, coatings and inks, food and consumer brands. Terms of both April transactions were undisclosed.
Founded in 1978, Shrieve markets nearly 1,500 products across more than 40 countries through four operating segments: Industrial Distribution, Specialty Distribution, Specialty Lubricants and Energy Products and Services.
