As standards and regulations change related to accounting, audit, attestation and information reporting, organizations need help evaluating and implementing the new requirements. Dorsey, a partner in Grant Thornton’s National Office since 2002, monitors upcoming changes and works with the audit, tax and advisory services lines to develop integrated solutions that bring confidence to the financial reporting and other objectives of dynamic organizations.
Dorsey came to Grant Thornton after spending more than 25 years with Arthur Andersen in a variety of positions, most recently in Chicago as the Managing Director of their Assurance Professional Standards Group. In that capacity he was responsible for maintaining firm wide policy manuals and practice aids related to their global audit and other attest services and consulting on engagement matters related to firm policies and compliance with professional audit and attest standards.
Dorsey leads the firm’s development of assurance services related to sustainability and integrated reporting, including the environmental, social and governance performance of businesses and other entities. He serves on the AICPA’s Sustainability Task Force, Conflict Minerals Task Force and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Task Force. As a member of the latter he was involved in the drafting the recently issued Statement of Position 13-1, Attest Engagements on Greenhouse Gas Emissions Information.
