Ian Brown


Ian Brown is a Senior Partner of Oliver Wyman. He leads the firm’s Distribution and Commercial Effectiveness practices globally. Within the Wholesale and Distribution sector, Ian has worked with $1B+ clients across chemicals, foodservice, facilities management, building products, and electrical components, as well as waste management (in some ways a ‘reverse distribution’ sector). The Oliver Wyman Distribution team helps clients drive significant performance improvement in areas such as pricing, sales force effectiveness, customer value management, category management, sourcing and network optimization. Typical client outcomes combine 2-3% points margin improvement with the embedding of a sustained capability in their teams and in proprietary decision support tools. Ian has been a leader in developing and honing many of these platforms in his time at Oliver Wyman. Ian holds an M.Eng. in Engineering, Economics and Management from The Queen’s College, University of Oxford. He also chairs a UK charity focused on providing access to sport and sporting equipment to students in education. Ian lives in the US and UK. He is married to Shelley. They have two young and very energetic sons.
