Joe DeAngelo

Biography

Joe DeAngelo is chief executive officer (CEO) for HD Supply, a leading wholesale distribution company, providing a broad range of products and services to professional customers in the infrastructure & energy, maintenance, repair & improvement and specialty construction markets. Mr. DeAngelo was named CEO of HD Supply in August, 2007 when the company was sold by The Home Depot to a group of leading private equity firms. Under his direction, HD Supply has become one of North America’s largest and most successful privately-held diversified wholesale distributors, most recently named to the #2 position in Industrial Distribution magazine’s annual Big 50 list which ranks the wholesale industry’s largest companies.

Mr. DeAngelo joined The Home Depot in April 2004, and in January 2007, was named executive vice president and chief operating officer for The Home Depot.

He previously served as executive vice president of Stanley Works, where he was responsible for its tools group and corporate-wide functions, including marketing technology, operations and distribution. While there, he led the 2003 turnaround of the business, delivering asset efficiencies and productivity that drove a 100 percent increase in share price.

Prior to Stanley Works, Mr. DeAngelo served in a variety of executive roles at General Electric (GE). As president and CEO of GE Capital Transport International Pool and Modular Space, his team delivered a business transformation that doubled net income. As COO of GE Applications, he played a key role in establishing market and service leadership. Mr. DeAngelo also held multiple operating leadership positions in GE Electrical Distribution and Control, GE Plastics, GE Power Generation and GE Aerospace, in addition to participation on GE’s Corporate Audit Staff. Prior to joining GE, he held finance and operating positions at Georgia Pacific and CL Marvin, PLC.

Mr. DeAngelo holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics from the State University of New York at Albany.
