Patrick (Pat) McKune, CFO for M. Holland Company, talks with Adam Isenberg, NAW Vice President – Corporate Relations, about the value of participating in the semi-annual NAW Billion Dollar CFO Roundtable and the specific ROI he has seen in just two years of participation.

The NAW Billion Dollar Company CFO Roundtable for direct members was created as a new mechanism for the CFO of large distribution enterprises to network with non-competing peers in multiple lines of trade on key finance issues.

Similar to other billion dollar roundtables NAW has created for the CIO, Operations, CHRO, and Chief Legal Officers this by invitation roundtable is composed of executives from billion dollar companies that meet in Chicago two times per year. This highly interactive group consists of the SENIOR-MOST financial executives or CFOs. The annual fee is $1,800 per member, which covers meeting costs for two events in a twelve-month cycle. Participants are expected to cover the cost of their hotel and travel. Once the annual fee is paid, there are no additional fees to attend the meetings, which will last one day beginning with a reception and dinner the evening before.

The participating companies can also name an alternate who can take the place of the CFO, should that person be unable to attend the scheduled meeting.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Tyler Van Fossen joined Gallagher in 2018, as an Account Executive, responsible for developing and enhancing the risk management and insurance programs for complex global accounts. Prior to joining Gallagher, Tyler was a risk manager at a Fortune 500 consumer goods company (Kimberly-Clark), where he was accountable for developing and enhancing their Enterprise Risk Management Program, and structuring their liability insurance risk transfer programs. In addition to his corporate risk management experience, he was a Global Accounts Underwriter at Swiss Re, underwriting liability exposures for primarily multi-billion dollar manufacturing and distribution companies.

Tyler holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

T. J. Knaus is in the downtown office of Gallagher and is committed to driving organic growth and providing the highest level of service and the best results available in the industry to his clients. T.J. began his career as a National Account, Loss Sensitive Plan underwriter for CIGNA Special Risk Facilities. With that experience as a basis, T.J. has spent 25 years as a Casualty insurance broker, designing complex programs for Fortune 1000 clients. He began his brokerage career at A&A/Aon Risk Services where he focused on large casualty clients, using the global marketplace to provide solutions for his clients. T.J. then went to Marsh to lead National Account casualty sales in the Chicago office. While at Marsh, T.J. helped to build the casualty book and make the casualty advisory area a strength of the Chicago office of Marsh. For the last 11 years, T.J. was at Lockton where he was a Unit Leader, overseeing large, loss sensitive business. While at Lockton, T.J. was part of the management team that saw revenues grow from $19M to $65M today.

T.J. is an expert at using risk analytics and financial modeling to aid in the determination of the best programs for his clients. T.J. has focused on many different industries, including Manufacturing, Consumer Products, Retail, Technology, Real Estate and Food & Beverage companies.

T. J. has worked with many different insurance companies and has sat on broker panels for companies such as AIG, Arch, CNA, Chubb, Hartford, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and Zurich. T.J. is currently on the Hartford National Advisory Board. Maintaining relationships with senior management at various insurance companies has allowed T.J. to secure the very best pricing, terms, and conditions for his clients.

T.J. joined Gallagher in 2017.

Our country is dealing with a prescription drug abuse epidemic. Meanwhile, many states have legalized marijuana for medicinal or recreational use.

Now is the time to examine company policies and practices to ensure legal compliance while maintaining focus on workplace safety. State and local laws are in constant flux, often protecting people who use marijuana for medical or recreational purposes. Those laws are at odds with current federal law, as well as many workplace best practices. This session will address the shifting legal landscape and discuss recommendations and best practices for handling this complex and developing area.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Mike Cramer counsels and represents employers on a variety of employment law matters. He advises clients ranging from small non-profits to Fortune 50 companies, negotiates resolutions to troubling disputes, and, when necessary, litigates to victory.

Mike frequently speaks to legal and HR organizations on employment topics, and trains executives, attorneys and HR professionals on topics including drugs in the workplace, wage and hour law, harassment prevention and workplace investigations. Based on peer surveys, Mike has achieved Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer review rating (AV/Preeminent), and repeatedly has been named among the Best Lawyers in America and an Illinois Super Lawyer. Mike also was elected to The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, an organization of labor and employment attorneys in practice for more than 20 years who meet “the highest professional qualifications and ethical standards.”

Mike earned his law degree and his bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan. He has written and directed two independent, feature-length movies.

Colleen DeRosa is a strategic advocate, litigator, and negotiator focusing in labor and employment law. She leads the defense of employment litigation, including wrongful discharge, retaliation, whistleblower, unfair competition, unpaid wages, and discrimination and harassment claims. She also defends employers in class and collective matters seeking unpaid wages or overtime pay for classes of employees.

Colleen is responsive problem-solver and helps companies, large and small, to manage employee relations and to avoid or efficiently resolve disputes. She provides training and advice on best practices for various personnel policies, guides clients through employee leaves of absence and performance management issues, and prepares and enforces employment agreements with non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure provisions.

Colleen also practices traditional labor law including first chairing labor arbitrations and responding to NLRB charges.

Dan Kinsfogel is a part of the Advisory Services team and is a national leader in Grant Thornton’s Financial Management Service Line. Dan brings experience both domestically and internationally, across several corporate functions and industries.

Dan has nearly 20 years of experience in financial planning & analysis, cost and performance improvement, accounting services, strategic planning and cash flow management with Fortune 500 companies and start-up level companies both as a consultant and in industry. He has shown the vision and ability to build and execute growth strategies, align strategic initiatives to financial and operational plans as well as deliver against cost saving initiatives. He has consistently showed strength in understanding organizational capabilities and providing guidance on how to implement or improve upon existing processes. In several different roles, he has demonstrated how to manage cash, reduce or shift costs in order to achieve financial goals and to reinvest for growth. Dan has developed budgeting and planning processes by focusing on key drivers and metrics to make organizations more proactive and results more predictive. He has led reporting process improvement projects that focus on identifying the right financial and operating metrics to drive decision-making. Dan has end-to-end operational experience from delivering on consumer needs to ensuring the back office supports and adds value to the business. He prioritizes relationships and acts through the lens of ‘simplify and go’ in order to minimize unnecessary complexity.
