Extended Description

Every wholesaler-distributor needs a more structured approach to improving employee performance, and the Employee Performance Improvement Tool Kit (book and CD) provides that approach.

This tool kit was developed to help you find, hire, develop and retain the staff you need, so that your company can continuously improve its bottom-line performance in line with your business goals. The tool kit provides you with an organized and thoughtful approach to the five integrated areas of performance improvement:

  • Job Descriptions: This section explains the benefits and uses of good job descriptions, and how to analyze jobs and develop descriptions, duties, and requirements. There are 21 sample wholesale distribution job descriptions included in the book and on the CD. You may customize the sample job descriptions to fit your company’s needs.
  • Performance Evaluations: This section helps you develop an evaluation structure that consists of these phases: planning, appraisal, monitoring, and formal evaluation. Guidelines for developing forms, determining the interview style, and making the system legally defensible are discussed. A sample evaluation performance template (ready for you to customize for every job position) is provided on the CD. It illustrates how the evaluation links to the job description.
  • How to Start a Training Program: This section provides guidelines to help you assess your training needs, design and develop a training program, and measure and evaluate employee performance after training. A sample training planner template that you can easily customize is provided on the CD.
  • Recruitment and Retention Guide: This section helps you meet your short- and long-term goals by recruiting and retaining talented employees. Sample recruitment checklist, employment application, interview questions, and other related employment forms are provided. Templates for all the forms, ready for you to customize, are included on the CD.
  • New Employee Orientation Program: This section helps you ensure that the enthusiasm your new employees bring to the job is nurtured. A new employee orientation program increases productivity, reduces absenteeism and turnover, improves morale, and decreases necessary disciplinary actions. Sample new employee orientation checklist, evaluation questionnaire, performance evaluation, and other customizable templates are provided on the CD as well.
